Mostar

General Information about Mostar

Situated along the Neretva river Mostar is the second largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a population of over 128,448. You can get to Mostar by flying with the Mostar International Airport being located not far from the city centre, however flights are limited. Buses and trains are also available with buses running more frequently.

Be sure to visit the Old Bridge which is known as Stari Most which is where the towns name originated from. This historical monument dates back to the 16th century but was destroyed in 1993 as a result of the Bosnian War. The Old Bridge has since been rebuilt and remains as a important landmark of this historical city.

A trip to Mostar would not be complete without visiting the Muslibegovica House which is over 300 years old with architecture from the Ottoman era. Muslibegovica House features a museum that is open from April through to October.
